A mesmerising literary story about a lost man in search of connection - a meditation on love, art and commitment, set against the backdrop of one of the greatest art events in modern history, Marina Abramovic's The Artist Is Present. She watched as the final hours of The Artist Is Present passed by, sitter after sitter in a gaze with the woman across the table. Jane felt she had witnessed a thing of inexplicable beauty among humans who had been drawn to this art and had found the reflection of a great mystery. What are we? How should we live? If this was a dream, then he wanted to know when it would end. Maybe it would end if he went to see Lydia. But it was the one thing he was not allowed to do. Arky Swann is a film composer in New York separated from his wife, who has asked him to keep one devastating promise. One day he finds his way to The Atrium at MOMA and sees Marina Abramovic in The Artist is Present. The performance continues for 75 days and as it unfolds, so does Arky. As he watches and meets other people drawn to the exhibit, he slowly starts to understand what might be missing in his life and what he must do. This dazzlingly original novel asks beguiling questions about the nature of art, life and love and finds a way to answer them. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Laurel Lefkow. From the pathos of The Deer Hunter to the silliness of "more cow bell" on Saturday Night Live, Christopher Walken has covered about as much ground as one actor can. He's currently on Broadway starring in A Behanding in Spokane. He tells Kurt about his return to the stage and the next role he'd like to take on: a chef on a cooking show. Next, the self-described "grandmother of performance art" is at the center of the retrospective show Marina Abramovic: The Artist is Present at New York's Museum of Modern Art. Her new project? Sitting silently in the museum's atrium all day, everyday, for three months. Kerrie Hillman talked with Abramovic as she prepared for perhaps her most ambitious performance yet. Then, the hip-hop world has seen a handful of superstar female MCs - but where's this decade's Missy Elliott? At the SXSW music festival in Austin last month, Studio 360's Leital Molad met some artists ready to break through the boys' club. "We're waking people up to show them we're here," says Detroit rapper Invincible. Finally, Jimmy Cliff helped bring reggae to America in the 1970s with his film and soundtrack, The Harder They Come, and last month he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Cliff tells Kurt about growing up listening to radio broadcasts from New Orleans and helping Bob Marley get his start. And he performs live in our studio. [Broadcast Date: April 2, 2010] 1. A WildBlue Press original true crime story from the New York Times best-selling author of Monster and No Stone Unturned, describing in dramatic detail and with heart-rending poignancy the efforts of tenacious Texas lawmen to solve the cold case murders of three little girls and hold their killer accountable for his horrific crimes. From the authorI think what made Bogeyman unique for me as a writer wasn't the killer's story, or even the exceptional detective work that went into bringing David Penton to justice. The book gives us a poignant and powerful inside look at the emotional, psychological, and physical toll a case like this has on the men and women of law enforcement, as well as on their families; those usually unseen, and rarely revealed, stories of courage, faith and sacrifice on behalf of the victims, the victims' families, and their communities.About the authorNew York Times best-selling author and award-winning journalist Steve Jackson has written 11 nonfiction books in true crime, history, and biography genres; he has also written 16 crime fiction thrillers for the Times best-selling Butch Karp series in collaboration with former New York assistant district attorney Robert K. Grace was dressed in a long, flowing silk robe that was slightly opened to reveal a perfectly tan and lean body encased in a skimpy bikini. She and the similarly attired Claudia each took one of Charlotte's arms as they walked into the main atrium of the hotel so they could show her around the facility. Charlotte was shown the pool that overlooked the cliffs above the harbor and was excited to see the women wore little to nothing as they lounged about on the deck. The few men that were visible had thongs only, or were being guided about with blindfolds, gags, collars, whips and other tools of domination for those that desired that sort of thing. She noticed a gorgeous red head lounging in a bikini that left little to the imagination as she further surveyed the hotel guests. "Who's that gorgeous redhead over there?" Charlotte asked her hosts. "Oh my goodness, that's Cathy Blanco. You have to meet her Charlotte; she's here to relax after also experiencing quite a turbulent year, much as yourself," explained Claudia, "We'll leave the rest of the tour for later, let me introduce you." "Excuse me Cathy, I'd like to introduce you to our newest guest, Dr. Charlotte Koehler. She's here for a vacation and to perform a little plastic surgery," said Grace, the more ebullient of the two. Cathy took off her sunglasses to reveal the most beautiful emerald eyes that stood out against her fair skin coloring and thick, long red hair. And, she was a true redhead since she was lying naked with her snatch exposed and what little hair there was, was red. Her eyes ran up and down the tall, statuesque woman as if she were a lollipop and then ran the tip of her tongue around the edge of her full, pouty lips as she held out her hand in greeting. "I thought you and Charlotte would find you have much in common," suggested Claudia, "she too has ill parents that she lives with." "Pleased to meet you Cathy," she held out her hand 1.
